Nestled in the beautiful landscape of East Tyrol and surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Lienz Dolomites, Anras has a very special charm that has been enjoyed by the bishops of Brixen since the 12th century.

Anras Castle was built as a summer retreat for the bishops and now has a rich history. The Messerschmitt Foundation purchased the castle and the adjacent country house and preserves this treasure of Alpine culture. The ensemble still tells the history of past centuries today.

We offer 6 apartments in the country house and two apartments in the castle.

We offer our guests two apartments in the castle, which have been renovated and furnished to a high standard with respect for the precious historical substance. Fine bed linen and fluffy towels pamper guests, while antique furniture completes the ensemble.

This excellently preserved typical East Tyrolean farmhouse has been carefully renovated and furnished with six unmistakably beautiful holiday apartments.

History
Anras Castle was built as a bishop's summer residence, and over time the estate expanded from Anras to Obertilliach and Lienzer Klause. In 1754, the castle was extended in the Baroque style. This stately residence of the bishops of Brixen developed a cultural and artistic richness that still inspires today. This cultural gem was purchased and restored by the Messerschmitt Foundation in 1991.

Today, Anras Castle has developed into a cultural meeting place. It is also home to the local council. Two holiday apartments in the castle will make your stay in Anras unforgettable.

Dogs are not only allowed here, they are very welcome. We understand that many guests do not want to leave their faithful companions at home, so we are happy to welcome them here. For a small surcharge of just €10 per night, you can bring your four-legged friend with you. We are also happy to provide dog bowls and a dog blanket so that your pet feels at home with us. So don't worry about whether your dog is welcome here – they definitely are!
