High Trail Trophy Wildschönau

This hiking and trail running event follows the Wildschönauer Höhenweg from Niederau to the Schönangeralm in Auffach. The routes are physically demanding, pass by rustic alpine huts, and offer breathtaking views—but in the end, it’s all about the fastest time!

In 2026, the Höhenweg Trophy will be expanded to two days for the first time:

On Friday, October 2, the race weekend kicks off with an uphill mountain sprint. Over 3 intense kilometers, the course climbs steeply uphill—short and sweet.

On Saturday, October 3, the familiar Höhenweg Trophy enters its next round: For trail runners, there’s a new route extension: Up to 30 kilometers along the Höhenweg must be conquered—physically demanding, varied, and featuring unique scenery.

2026 Route: More Distance – More Challenge
The uphill sprint starts at the valley station of the Markbachjochbahn in Niederau and leads to the Rübezahlhütte, right next to the mountain station. (Friday)
Length: 3 km

The hiking route for individual hikers & teams of three leads from the Markbachjoch via Rosskopf, Feldalphorn, Schwaigberghorn, and Breiteggern to the Schönangeralm. (Saturday)
Length: 15 km

The Power Trail leads from the Markbachjochbahn mountain station via Rosskopf, Feldalphorn, Schwaigberghorn, Breiteggern, Breiteggspitze, and Siedljoch to the Schönangeralm. (Saturday)
Length: 20 km

The Summit Trail is the most challenging route; it starts at the Markbachjochbahn mountain station and also leads via Rosskopf, Feldalphorn, Schwaigberghorn, Breiteggern, Breiteggspitze, Siedljoch, Sonnjoch, Großer Beil, and Kleiner Beil to the Schönangeralm. (Saturday)
