Nature Park Trail »Mountain Meadow and Moor Educational Trail« in Friedrichshöhe ↻ 2.1 km

The educational trail starts directly at the Nature Park gate Friedrichshöhe and initially follows the well-known Rennsteig with its historic coat of arms stones. The adjacent mountain meadows are home to the Arnica. These tended meadows emerged in connection with the construction of a glassworks at the beginning of the 18th century and today are home to many particularly protected animals and plants. At the “Meilerhütte” you will find information about charcoal burning, the traces and relics of which are still numerous on the surrounding mountains today.

Along the way, benches invite you to relax. In the village Friedrichshöhe there is a restaurant as well as guesthouses and holiday homes. At the Nature Park Center, there is a small exhibition and a slide-and-sound show. The educational trail finally ascends slightly from the Nature Park Center via a forest path to the Bear's root meadow and the moor. You reach the starting point again via the moor footbridge.
