Klammalm - Hochgründdeck

The first stop on this meditation and peace trail is a chapel accessible from Klammalm. For this, keep to the right and follow the forest road (trail 452). At the chapel, go through a gate to a fork where you turn left. After about 10 minutes, the hiking trail branches off to Hochgründdeck and thus to the fourth station. Then the path crosses a forest road and leads with a pleasant ascent in the shade of the trees to the ninth station at Hofer Saddle at 1,635 m. Here the path splits and the left trail continues with an ascent over the ridge. The forest thins and you soon reach an open saddle. This is also the natural arena for "Ranggeln am Hochgründdeck". Over a ridge to the left, you reach the summit of Hochgründdeck. To the right, an even path leads to the Heinrich-Kiener-Haus. From the sun terrace, you have a bird's-eye view of the Salzach Valley with the towns of St. Johann, Bischofshofen, and the fortress "Hohen Werfen". The descent is the same as the ascent.

Variant: From Hofer Saddle, you can also choose the steep trail to the right and after a short descent reach a comfortable forest road leading back to Klammalm.
