Opis
The stage runs from Iitti church village through the straits around Hiidensaari to the Kimola Canal and lively Vuolenkoski village. After Iitti church village, the route goes under Virransilta Bridge into a narrow strait. After the strait, you can optionally turn right toward Kupparinoja, through which you reach Urajärvi. If you continue straight ahead, you come after Pelinginselkä to Hiidensalmi. It is definitely worth stopping at Hiidensaari, where there is a well-equipped campfire shelter and wonderful views from Hiidenvuori.

You can also continue from Hiidensaari as a side route toward Kouvola's Virtakivi harbor. However, note the strong current on this route, especially when returning from Virtakivi.

After paddling around Hiidensaari, the route continues through Hopiasalmi toward Kurhistenniemi and narrows into Kimola Strait and Kimola Canal.

Kimola Canal is an experience even for an experienced paddler; the 12 m lock and tunnel are memorable experiences. You can stop for coffee at the canal and then continue toward Vuolenkoski.

The stage begins at Radansuu boat ramp towards Virransilta Bridge. On the right is Iitti church village, which is worth exploring. At the boat ramp, there is a campfire site, an outdoor toilet, and a spacious parking area. The route starts from the shore towards the church village. When approaching Virransilta Bridge, it is recommended to paddle close to the left shore of the strait. Before the bridge, on the left, is the Karjettamäki nature reserve.

After the strait, head towards the tip of Luhda, still staying close to the left shore. The route continues towards Hiidensaari, where it is good to take a longer break. The campfire site on the island is well equipped, and you can climb Hiidenvuori to admire the views. (If you wish, you can "shortcut" and head towards Hiidensaari's beach, and you can carry your kayaks across the narrow isthmus.)

From Hiidensaari, the route continues around the island turning eastward. Paddle on the left side of Hopiasaari Island continuing towards Kurhistenniemi. After Kurhistenniemi, the lake narrows into a narrow strait. During the busy boating season, be cautious when paddling through the strait and also consider the cruise traffic. Kimolalahd narrows gradually into Kimola Canal, which is a memorable experience. At the canal, you can land at the canoe dock on the right side after the lock.

After the canal, you reach Paateri basin through Pohjanlahti. Stay on the left close to the shore and turn southwest after Pitkäniemi. Continue towards Kalvonniemi. Siltasaari Island is now visible to the southwest. Cross the boating route carefully and paddle under the Siltasaari bridge. The landing place is on the right side of the marina.

Varnostna navodila
The route passes through several narrow straits where boating traffic is quite busy during the holiday season. Pay attention to the boating route and stay close to the shore in the narrows. Currents in the straits are also strong in places.

Note strong currents also if you leave Hiidensaari toward Virtakivi.

When approaching Kimola Canal, it is wise to focus on other traffic. In July, there are also cruise ships in the canal, so planning passage through the canal carefully is recommended.
