Mitterbach is a small municipality in Lower Austria's Mostviertel and builds the boarder to Styria. Mostviertel lies in the western part of Lower Austria, south of the River Danube. Mitterbach is part of the National Park Ötscher-Tormäuer, which hosts Austria's Grand Canyon "Ötschergräben", and is surrounded by a beautiful landscape including mountains and lakes - like Ötscher mountain (1893m), Gemeindealpe (1626m) and Lake Erlauf.
