Easy dirt trails will take you through thick beech woods. Instead of following the main trail, you may choose to take the “upper route”, climbing a pathway up Bric Agnellino. You’ll get an unusual view of Monte Carmo from here.
Mountain equipment is recommended.
It is recommended to stock up on food and water.
Also of interest is the system of fortifications on the Melogno Pass, including the Central, Tartagna and Merizzo forts, built between 1883 and 1895. The Central Fort is placed to bar the road across the pass. The Tartagna and Merizzo forts stand on two elevations near the pass and can be reached from the Alta Via by short detours.
