In addition to the variety of the landscape, Monte Carmo is very interesting for its flora, since many alpine plants at the limit of their distribution are found there. This is the case, for example, of the cranberry and the dusty primrose, which are missing further east as far as Val d'Aveto, and of the rhododendron, absent throughout the Ligurian Apennines.On the slopes of Mount Carmo stand numerous "caselle," small stone constructions with a circular plan. Made entirely of dry-stone according to a very ancient construction technique, they served shepherds and farmers as temporary shelters or deposits for agricultural tools.
