The Sulmsee fishing lake is situated in the heart of Southern Styria, west of the district capital Leibnitz. It is divided into two basins by a dam.
The lake lies nestled between the Silberberg Viticulture School and Seggau Castle, in a beautiful hilly landscape with a mild climate.
The Sulmsee is fed by the Kogelgrabenbach stream, which flows into it from the north, by a well on the banks of the Sulm, by groundwater and by the Sulm itself. There is also a connection to the neighbouring Silbersee.
