The cable car ascent in the Grossglockner/Heiligenblut ski area offers a pleasant start to this route. Nonetheless, it is not to be underestimated, a high alpine route to a 3,000-meter peak. From the summit, you have a beautiful view of the Glockner group.
Either take the cable car from the valley station in Heiligenblut or from the middle station Roßbach to the Schareck summit. From the mountain station, take the Fallbichl descent to the Viehbichllift. From the drag lift mountain station, head west over 2 hills towards Tü rnlscharte and you have to remove the skins for a small descent there. On the west side of the pass, ski down towards Bretterboden, where the skins are put back on. From there, follow a logical track towards the already visible summit, first reaching the notch between the fore- and main summit (usually a ski depot) and then follow the ridge to the right (east) to the summit.

Where available, stay on marked routes; observe information boards as well as protected, conservation and restricted areas carefully. Be considerate of wildlife: avoid feeding areas and calmly withdraw immediately if you spot an animal. Avoid young tree cultures (under three meters), ski edges can cause great damage to trees. Do not leave any waste behind. Avoid noise.Important for ski tours: prohibition of skiing on young forest and reforestation areas
Ask at the lift ticket office for the ski touring map. Those who wish to "extend" the route can first ascend to the Margrötzkopf and ski down its backside to Bretterboden.
