Mountain biking on the Saualpe | Eberstein - Diex - Brückl

The route starts directly at the municipal office in Eberstein with the impressive castle complex and numerous excursion options (e.g. Eberstein folk song house, medicinal herb garden, etc.).

From the municipal office in Eberstein, it goes briefly along the Saualpenstraße before the route ascends to the right, leaving the Görtschitztal. Initially accompanied by meadows, the path leads uphill through the forest and joins the Noric Panorama Trail. Here most of the elevation gain has already been overcome. It continues along the Noric Panorama Trail to Mirnig, where there is a resting opportunity.

The route continues along the Noric Panorama Trail to Hochfeistritz. The beautiful wide view and the fortified church "Hochfeistritz" are certainly a highlight of the route and invite you to a well-deserved break. Continuing uphill, the route heads towards Diex. Before Diex, there is the possibility to shorten the route – alternatively, you go straight to the fortified church Diex. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view in the village with the most hours of sunshine in Austria.

From here, it goes quickly on a paved road, first flat, then from Gretschitz becoming steeper for about 12 km downhill. You finally reach the Görtschitztal again and return slightly uphill to the starting point towards the north.

TIP: This route can be ridden with less effort by e-mountain bike!
