Lake Heiterwanger See enjoys an idyllic and absolutely picturesque location between the high peaks of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. This unique location makes the lake somewhat reminiscent of a Nordic fjord. The breathtaking turquoise color of the water makes the lake one of the absolute highlights of the region. The lake is located right next to the municipality of Heiterwang.

Together with the Plansee, to which it is connected by a 300-metre-long canal, the Heiterwanger See forms the second largest body of water in Tyrol.
