Vuoressalo, Isokyrö

Hikers in Vuoressalo can ascend above the surrounding fields to a rocky hill covered in white lichen. The hill has plenty to offer in terms of views and experiences. Vuoressalo has many mysterious rock formations in which the involvement of humans has been speculated along the years. The current base map includes, for example, a “pakouuni” (literally “escape oven”) which, according to legend, is a low wall built by peasants in the Cudgel War for shelter. The rock has a natural crack in the wall, creating a vault about 2 metres in height. There is plenty of superstition about the area, and locals have been reluctant to examine these places in too much detail.
