The Liegenfeld family has cultivated wine for generations in Donnerskirchen. Max Stiegl, born in Slovenia, is a restless and charismatic "jack of all trades." He is now focusing fully again on his family estate – to the benefit of guests for sure. On about 20 hectares, Birgit Braunstein fulfills a lifelong dream with terroir-specific wines. After switching to organic farming in 2006, she took the step to Demeter certification in 2009. Her grapes grow and ripen at Leithagebirge behind Purbach, where schist, shell limestone, and crystalline quartz form the perfect base for great wines. The main varieties are Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, and Pinot Noir among red wines and Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay among white wines. A great opportunity to taste the wines is the top restaurant Paulistuben of brother Paul and sister-in-law Alexandra.

Weingut Markus Altenburger

With much personal commitment and feeling, Markus Altenburger made the winery one of the most internationally recognized and exciting estates at Leithaberg within a few years. The wines grow on limestone composed of million-year-old marine fossils. With great respect for this terroir, Markus Altenburger works as naturally as possible; his style is unmistakable. The signature red wines consist of Blaufränkisch; the pure vineyard-specific wines from old vines in the Jungenberg and Gritschenberg vineyards are produced only in the best vintages and in small quantities. Regarding white wines, the Altenburger family focuses mainly on Chardonnay, Grüner Veltliner, and Neuburger.
