From the Neuweiler district Breitenberg, the route goes through the idyllic and quiet Angelbach Valley to Oberkollwangen, from where you can enjoy a splendid view of Oberkollwangen and the wide Gäu. The hike leads us through extensive forest sections further into the small town of Neuweiler. In the village center is the historic local history museum, where you can learn a lot about the history of the community by appointment. Black Forest history, tradition, and culture become tangible here! At the signpost “Neuweiler Dorfplatz” turn right towards Weikenmühle and Breitenberg, back to the starting point. In Breitenberg, one can comfortably end the hike with Swabian and homemade delicacies in the “Krone” guesthouse or the Hotel Restaurant “Sonnenhof.” The route offers everything that a typical Black Forest hike must have – wide distant and panoramic views over the tops of the trees and natural paths that lead through shady and fragrant forests.
The start is at the church in Breitenberg, at the signpost Breitenberg Kirchplatz. Follow the signage towards Hummelberg in the village. You will be led by the yellow diamond. Downhill, pass the signposts Berghalde, Fenchelhalde, and Mäder to the signpost Oberkollwanger Säge. We walk up the Angelbach Valley a bit until the signpost Scheckenberg and cross the Angelbach over the wooden bridge until we reach the signpost Friedhof. At the signpost “Friedhof” (by the country road) turn sharply to the right. In the forest, always keep left. Then along the forest edge, and on a wonderful meadow path uphill to the forest edge, where on an asphalt path you have a magnificent view of Oberkollwangen and the Gäu. At the signpost Über dem Zwerchäcker, continue straight ahead and follow the diamond markings. Follow the forest path to the signpost Messners Eigenschaft and turn left there. Then you reach the sports field and the signpost of the same name. Here, at the hiking map, you leave the diamond for a short stretch and follow the “nature trail” along to the signposts Missäcker and Neuweiler Eck. We turn left and hike through the reed bed and along the forest edge to the Linden tree (signpost) with a rest bench. Now it goes towards Neuweiler. In the town center, keep left at the signpost Neuweiler and turn right at the following signpost Dorfplatz. At the Friedhof (signpost), the tour goes left and back into the forest. Downhill, past the signposts Teinachtalweg and Eitelsbach to the Halde. We head towards Breitenberg and follow the diamond out of the valley to the signpost Wadel. Via the signpost Breitenberg/Alte Säge we reach the church again in the town center.
Hiking shoes, a small backpack snack, and drinks are recommended.
