Discover the originality of the Upper Enz Valley on the premium hiking trail Enzquellenpfad! Around Gompelscheuer stretches this special route, which can be hiked either as a sporty day tour or flexibly divided into three loops: Kaltenbach loop, Poppel loop, or Enz loop.
Accompany the Kaltenbach and the young Enz on their course, enjoy the solitude of the Poppelsee, and let yourself be enchanted by the calm of the forests. Here you experience pure nature: bird song, the rush of the streams, and paths that seem never-ending. The Enzquellenpfad is more than a hike – it is a journey to the roots of the Black Forest: groundedness, deep valleys and forests, sometimes wild and sometimes tame stream and river courses.
Whether you hike the full circle or only one of the loops, the Enzquellenpfad promises hiking enjoyment that also lets your spirit fly free. It is ideal for everyone wanting to escape everyday life. Hiking boots on and off you go!
The hike follows the marked trail network of the Black Forest Club. Along the way, the diamonds guide you from signpost location to signpost location. The Enz spring as the starting point is located in the center of the circular route and is connected to the Enzquellenpfad by access paths. The listing of the signpost locations is subsequently oriented to the Poppelschleife, Enzschleife, and Kaltenbachschleife.

2 tips for your safety:
The return path from Kaltenbachsee back to Gompelscheuer requires surefootedness, as some parts along the creek are very alpine. Wet feet might be possible under certain circumstances. In winter, the summer toboggan run terrain in Poppeltal is closed. A winter detour for the Enzquellenpfad is then signposted.Gompelscheuer is located on the K4367 between Besenfeld and Enzklösterle.
The route is accessible hourly (Monday to Sunday) by the Regiobus line X78. It runs between Bad Wildbad, Enzklösterle and Freudenstadt.

Due to limited parking options in Gompelscheuer, we recommend the following parking lots as entry points to the hiking trail:

Only on the Enz loop is it possible to stop at or make a detour to the Gasthof zum Löwen. For the entire route, it is best to pack enough provisions.
