Directly at the start, the Schönmünz flows into the Murg and the trail goes upwards on the Seensteig towards Schurmseeblick (those who like can also take a short detour down to the lake). On slightly broader paths, it goes through the Murgschifferschaftswald a little along the ridge trail, on the ridge between Philipenkopf and Diebaukopf. Through the protected forest area and a core zone of the national park, you reach the Camp Seibelseckle via natural paths.
From Schönmünzach station, go a bit to the left down the street over the Murg and immediately right over the Schönmünz. Here, turn left onto the Seensteig and follow it past the Schurmsee and the silted Blindsee. Shortly before the Untergrinde, leave the Seensteig and continue straight ahead on the dance ground path. At the end of the path, turn left to the Camp Seibelseckle.
(You will receive the exact route description to the camp with the booking confirmation.)
For a trekking tour in the Black Forest, you generally do not need extensive expedition equipment. However, you should be well prepared and have the essentials with you. Therefore, we have put together some equipment tips.
Hiking maps
The Black Forest has a extensive and very well signposted network of trails. Our tour suggestions mainly lead over narrow paths that do not always connect the camps directly. We therefore recommend carrying a suitable hiking map on which further sights, roads, and other important points are visible. A selection of suitable hiking maps can be found in our Nature Park shop.
GPS
With the booking confirmation, you will receive a detailed route description to the respective camp. In addition, each place has GPS coordinates (UTM WSG 84). For safety reasons, we therefore recommend a GPS device. Especially in the summer months, with dense shrubbery, it can sometimes be more difficult to find the camp at first try.
Booking confirmation
With the booking, you will receive an invoice, terms and conditions, and the booking confirmation by email. The booking confirmation also contains the route description of the last mile and the access code for the toilet hut. The booking confirmation must be shown on request to the caretaker of the respective place as well as to forestry administration staff.
Water
There is no water connection at the camps! The surrounding streams do not provide drinking water or are often dried up in the summer months. So take enough water with you and always stock up on the way. Better a few liters too many! Also consider water for cooking and washing. 4-5 liters per person per day should be taken!
Others
The following should also not be missing in the backpack:
Clothing: rain jacket, sweater, and sturdy footwear Sleeping: tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag Washing: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel, … Supplies: water canister, thermos, cutlery, pocket knife, pot, … Health: first aid kit, personal medication, sunscreen, insect repellent, … Toilet paper Garbage bags Mobile phone ID card If needed: camping stove, can opener, tealight, rope, cord, flashlight, …The trekking camps are located away from the villages and can only be reached on foot. In the surrounding area, you will usually find nothing — except wild nature. To ensure that nothing goes wrong during this adventure and that the trekking tour becomes a safe pleasure, the most important safety rules should be observed.
Forest fire danger
The main cause of forest fires is careless, negligent behavior in the forest. We therefore ask you to only make fires at the designated fire pit and observe the instructions in the user regulations. Empty glass bottles should not be thrown away as they can also start fires. Current information on forest fire danger can be found at www.dwd.de/waldbrand.
In case of emergency, immediately alert the fire department: emergency number 112
Severe weather
Entering the forest involves risks. Falling branches and slippery forest floors are not uncommon. Especially during severe weather, there is a danger of life-threatening injuries.
The use of the natural campsites is at your own risk. No liability is assumed for possible damages, especially caused by falling branches or uprooted trees in the forest. Every user must inform themselves especially about severe weather warnings.
We recommend not using the natural campsites during severe weather warnings!
Current situation and forecasts can be found at http://www.unwetterzentrale.de/uwz/badenwuerttembergindex.html.
In emergencies
To ensure that rescue services from mountain rescue, fire department, or Red Cross can quickly find you in an emergency, an information board is attached to the inside of the toilet hut at each camp, indicating the nearest rescue point. Stay calm in an emergency, provide first aid, and place an emergency call to 112!
Provide the following information:
Where did it happen? (Name of the camp and the nearest rescue point) What happened? (Type and severity of injury) How many injured are there? Who is reporting? (Name and own mobile number) Wait for follow-up questions! If something happens to you on the way, it is important to know that all signposts, combined with the altitude indication, have a location name that can be given as the rescue point when making the emergency call. Via an online tool from the Digital Trail Management of the Black Forest Association, control centers can locate the emergency location during calls in inaccessible terrain, where road navigation no longer helps. https://www.schwarzwaldverein.de/schwarzwald/wanderwege/wegweiser-sind-rettungspunkte
