Gabriel Chevalier was undoubtedly inspired by his stays in Vaux-en-Beaujolais when he wrote “Clochemerle” published in 1934.
By inaugurating, 22 years later, a street in the village in his name and giving that of Clochemerle to the cellar located on the square, he linked the place to his novel.
An original scenography created in the town brings this work to life. Mural fresco, creation of “pissotières”, museums, animated theatres … invite visitors to discover a world literary success
from an unusual angle.

Cycle tourers are subject to the highway code and must respect it (pedestrian crossings, give way, traffic lights, ...). The road does not belong more to cyclists than to motorists. The highway code specifically prohibits cyclists from riding side by side when a car overtakes.
