High above Lake Thun lies the vacation resort of Beatenberg with its local mountain, the Niederhorn. The box seat with the backdrop of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is a real natural spectacle. Start your excursion with a visit to the summit and enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Justistal valley on one side and the Alps on the other. While resting on a wooden bench, you will usually be swarmed by mountain choughs.

While you indulge yourself on the terrace or inside the Berghaus, you have a unique view of Lake Thun and the Oberland mountains. At 1950 m above sea level, it's all about marveling - experiencing - enjoying. In summer, the Niederhorn is a popular excursion destination for those seeking relaxation, connoisseurs, families, groups, nature lovers, hikers, delta gliders and paragliders.

A T-bar lift takes experienced skiers and snowboarders from Vorsass (Niederhornbahn middle station) up to the Niederhorn.

START OF THE WINTER SEASON: The Beatenberg – Niederhorn gondola is expected to resume operation on 1 January 2026. The Beatenbucht – Beatenberg funicular railway is currently operating according to a revised timetable.

With the Junior Card, children up to 16 years of age travel free of charge on the Train and cable car. If you do not have a junior card, you only pay for the first child in the family, all other siblings travel for free!
