Circular hike into the Bietschtal

This hike leads from the Rilke village Raron through the romantically wild Bietschtal. At the start of the route is the rock church St. Michael. It is located entirely inside a rock and is thus an impressive example of modern rock architecture. The church fits perfectly into the natural surroundings and contributes significantly to the village’s characteristic appearance. The path crosses the Bietschbach to Rarnerchumma and continues to the imposing Bietschtal bridge. Hiking over the bridge requires a head for heights, but it is not mandatory as the structure can also be bypassed. The path continues to St. German, a place known for its wine cultivation. Here you have the opportunity to taste one of the fine wines. Through the vineyards, you reach the castle church, the museum, and the grave of the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, the namesake of the Rilke village. Afterwards, you follow the path back to the starting point.
