From the train station you reach the Werratal Cycle Path via the English Garden past Elisabethenburg Castle. Through the Werra floodplain, below Landsberg Castle, Walldorf with its church fortress is soon reached, followed by the carnival town Wasungen. Via Schwallungen and Wernshausen the cycle path leads to Breitungen. On a side road past the gravel lakes rich in water lilies it goes on to Immelborn and Barchfeld. The stage destination Bad Salzungen follows after a wonderfully natural route through the NSG Erlensee-Maiwiesen.
Meiningen - Walldorf - Wasungen - Schwallungen - Schmalkalden - Wernshausen - Breitungen - Barchfeld - Immelborn - Bad Salzungen
Touring bike
Always pay attention to the road safety of your bike. The cycle path runs partly on public roads. Watch out for other road users and ride cautiously!
Especially during hot summer months, always carry some water with you to prevent dehydration. A sunscreen with a high SPF is also recommended.
A71 exit 21 Meiningen Nord onto B19 via Meiningen - Wasungen to Barfeld - Immelborn, in the roundabout take the third exit onto B62 to Bad Salzungen
RB 41 from Eisenach or Grimmenthal (along the cycle path), RB 44 from Erfurt via Arnstadt, Suhl, run year-round daily at 1- to 2-hour intervals (free bike transport); RB 40 Erfurter Bahn (EB) from Schweinfurt, Bad Kissingen to Meiningen (Unterfranken shuttle)
