Stanz region

Above the town of Landeck, along the Way of St James, lies Stanz, one of the highest fruit-growing regions in Europe, on a sunny terrace. This is also where the famous ‘Stanzer Zwetschke’ plum grows, which has helped the region earn the title of ‘Austria's Region of Delight’. The special fruit goes into the stills and is processed into fine distillates, which you can then sample on a guided tour of the numerous distilleries, whether in summer or winter. The architectural culture of old and new houses as well as the enchanting landscape lend the village an irresistible charm.
