Russbach, the Austrian hiking village, is a paradise for connoisseurs, hikers and adventurers. Blooming alpine meadows invite to pleasant walks, wonderful summit and climbing routes in fog-free, almost untouched nature. The magnificent view of the Hoher Dachstein and Tennengebirge mountains accompanies you on all your hikes. Enjoy a good snack in one of the many cosy alpine huts.
From the village square past the Hotel Kerschbaumer heading east through the underpass and follow the Alten Gschüttstraße. Then a short section on the Paß-Gschütt federal road up to the pass height. About 700 m after the pass height, the Wegscheidstraße branches off to the left. At the first intersection turn right, and at the next intersection turn left towards Iglmoosalm (1,206 m). Then walk along the forest road, after about 1.5 km the footpath branches off to the right over the Schartenalm to the Goiserer Hütte (1,596 m). Then walk back a little to the Schartenalm, where soon after the path branches off to the right. Over the Wiesalm follow the ground markings cross-country and after a short, relatively steep descent, go down to the Neualm and take path no. 38 back to Russbach.
Sturdy footwear, rain jacket and a snack are recommended.
Coming from motorway A10, take the Golling exit towards Abtenau and Russbach. From Bad Ischl, drive via Bad Goisern and Gosau to Russbach.
You can reach Russbach by post bus no. 470 from Gosau and Golling. Information on schedules can be found at www.oebb.at
There are plenty of parking spaces directly in the town centre of Russbach or at the Rinnbach car park.
