As an alternative route to stage 02 of the Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail. It takes you from Plattenkogel via Gletscherblickalm to Gerlosplatte and from there via the Durlaßboden reservoir back up to Königsleiten.
The first section of the alternative route via Plattenkogel to Breitscharte follows the same path as the main route of the Panorama Trail. From the Alpengasthof Filzstein, you walk a few meters up the asphalt road to a crossing asphalt road. Cross the road and hike up the ski slope at a signpost "Plattenkogel" – crossing a gravel road several times at the top – until you reach the highest visible lift station, just below Plattenkogel (2,039 m), which you ascend in a slight left curve. Cross the summit, pass the summit station of the Plattenkogel Express on the left, and follow the very beautiful hiking trail down a ridge. At a fork, choose the left path, climb up a few meters, and then descend to reach the Breitscharte (1,925 m). Here you leave the main route of the "Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail" and take the gravel road down to the right towards Gletscherblickalm, where you can refresh yourself. Continue down the large gravel road to the houses of Gerlosplatte (1,697 m). Along the road to the left, passing between Intersport and the accommodation "Stadlloft." 50 meters later, to the right across the meadow, a short way downhill to a meadow path (approximately at the level of the lowest houses of Stadlloft). Follow the meadow path downhill toward Speichersee Durlaßboden. At the end of your descent via the hiking trail, you reach an asphalt road, which you follow to the right. From here you are back on the main route of the "Tauern Panorama Trails." Passing the valley station of the Plattenkogel Express, you hike to the old Gerlospass road and cross it.
Now begins the last part of your hike today: Immediately on the other side of the road, a hiking trail begins that takes you to a small asphalt road. Follow this to the left to another road. 100 m up the road on the right and you are at your destination in the center of Königsleiten (1,567 m).
