Großarl: Loosbuehel, 2,043 m

ASCENT: approx. 2.5 hours

From the Grundlehen parking lot (avalanche transceiver checkpoint), a short stretch along the forest road, then turning left through the forest along the hiking trail, later over open areas towards Loosbuehelalm. Just before the alpine hut, turn right and climb a beautiful slope. At the end of the slope (large Swiss pine trees), you reach the summit plateau via a short steep section. Across this, it gently rises southeastwards to the Loosbuehel, a rather inconspicuous summit, hence the name Loosbuehel or Losbichl. A second ascent option is via the Filzmoosalm.

DESCENT: approx. 1 hour

In the area of the ascent route, there are various descent options. The recommended descent is to the Loosbuehelalm, which is open in winter.

The starting point for this route is the Grundlehen parking lot (avalanche transceiver checkpoint), 1,333 m. It can be reached from St. Johann im Pongau via the Großarler Landesstraße (L109) as follows: at the Großarl-Mitte roundabout, take the 3rd exit towards Ellmautal, drive to the marketplace, turn left there and then drive about 5.5 km into the Ellmautal.
