Snowshoe hike Tauernkarleitenalm

The Tauernkarleitenalm is idyllically located at the valley end of the Gnadenalm, nestled between gentle alpine slopes and the impressive peaks of the Radstädter Tauern. The hike there is especially popular among nature lovers, families, and all those seeking peace and authenticity away from the hustle and bustle.

For snowshoeing you don't need expensive high-tech equipment, here are a few tips we've put together:

Snowshoes (these can be rented at the sports shops in Obertauern), telescopic poles with large snow baskets, waterproof hiking/winter mountain boots, a comfortable backpack, weatherproof clothing in layers, sufficient sun protection, and enough to drink.

Access from the east

Vienna - A2 - S6 - Semmering - A9 Pyhrn motorway - Liezen B320 - Radstadt or Judenburg - Murtal federal road - Murau - Tamsweg - Mauterndorf - Obertauern - Gnadenalm 

TIP: If you want to arrive by public transport, the post bus line 280 stops directly in Obertauern.
