Reißeck - Kolbnitz

The village of Reißeck lies at the foot of the Danielsberg and is flanked by the Reißeck Group to the north and the Kreuzeck Group to the south. As well as mountain biking, rafting and canoeing, leisure activities range from paragliding and horse riding to surfing, tennis and swimming.

Nestled in the Hohe Tauern, Reißeck is also an ideal starting point for hikes along some 150 km of marked trails. The Kreuzeck Panoramic Cable Car takes visitors into the stunning alpine and mountain world of the Alps. The historic Danielsberg (962 m) boasts a 6,000-year-old sacred site: As early as 500 BC, Celts settled in the area and mined for gold, silver and iron. Their stone tools have been found.

As well as Upper Carinthia’s oldest place of worship – the Schalenstein. During ritual ceremonies, offerings were placed in its small, bowl-shaped depressions. Due to its unique landscape, the Danielsberg was declared a landscape conservation area in the 1960s.
The history of the Möll Valley is closely linked to mining right up to the 18th century. It can therefore be assumed that the Illyrian Veneti, whose presence is documented around 1000 BC, were already searching for iron in the Tauern region.
