Ryövärin scenic route Mäkelä–Vinsa by bike, linear route, Ruovesi

The route initially consists of gravel roads, passing through rural and forest landscapes. The route continues north along highway 66, mostly through forested areas. There are nice stopping points along the route. In Jäminkipohja, it is worth detouring from the highway and cycling through the village of Jäminkipohja, which is quieter and has less traffic than the highway. The route rejoins highway 66 about 2 km further north.

At the village of Ruhanla, you can cycle through the SEO yard, then turn right onto Pöytäniementie and cycle 2 km to Vinsan Villa. 

The route can be ridden with ordinary bicycles, as well as gravel, mountain bikes, and electric bikes.

Since the cycle route runs along a relatively busy main road with only a narrow shoulder, attention should be paid to the cyclist’s visibility. We recommend wearing bright safety vests and/or bright cycling clothes. It is advisable to keep both front and rear lights on while cycling, also during the day. A helmet is an essential protective gear. 

Reserve enough time to stop and enjoy the views, as well as to explore the sights along the route. Service points are not frequent along the route, so it is advisable to bring enough drinks, especially during summer heat. It is nice to enjoy refreshments, for example, at Siikaneva or at the Ryövärin Kuopa rest area.
