Lou Viage: Tappa 13 Sant’Anna di Vinadio - Rifugio Malinvern

Leave the Sanctuary and continue on the asphalt road that ascends towards the statue of the apparition and then onto a dirt road (GTA) towards Lake Colle di Sant’Anna. Just beyond the lake, keep left at the junction and abandon the dirt road that leads to Colle di Sant’Anna. Proceed southeast and climb the well-marked old military road towards Cima Moravacciera (2,407m). Follow the Italian-French border on the southeast-bound trail; the route is very scenic and offers views of the Isola 2000 ski resort in French territory. Then, reach the asphalt road near Colle della Lombarda (2,351 m). Descend gently on the Italian side of the provincial road until you encounter, on the right, a clearly visible path (P14) branching off to the east. With numerous switchbacks, ascend towards Passo d’Orgials (2,600 m). A small detour to the nearby Cima d’Orgials (2,647 m) is highly recommended from here. Retrace your steps and descend towards Laghi della Valletta (2,291 m), visible from the pass, and soon reach a flat stretch. Turn left just below the lakes towards the north and ascend on a path along the left shoulder of the valley. Enter a larch forest and, on a clearly marked path with several switchbacks, arrive at Rifugio Città di Ceva al Malinvern (1,840 m).
