The route starts from the central Tourist Office and crosses the bridge over the Chisone stream in the hamlet of Souchères Hautes, near the condominium complex Il Bosco delle Fate. Just after the bridge, on the left, you take a path that runs along the Chisone stream until you reach the next bridge of La Ruà (which remains on the left). Continue towards Souchères Basses with a slight uphill path and after about 500 m, you reach a fork: to the left, you descend to the hamlet of Souchères Basses (another beautiful snowshoe hike!), while on the right you continue towards Pradamont (= meadow uphill), a vast plateau at the foot of Monte Albergian that hosts a summer alpine pasture, completely immersed in silence. The return can be made following path no. 316, creating a circular route that leads back to the La Ruà bridge over the Chisone stream and the Tourist Office in Piazza Lantelme.
From the tourist office, walk without snowshoes along viale IV Novembre towards Souchères Hautes and, after crossing the Via Sciatori bridge, turn left putting on snowshoes, if conditions allow for snowshoeing.
Clothing and footwear suitable for the winter mountain environment
Along with the use of snowshoes, remember to bring poles and the ARVA kit, shovel and probe
Before undertaking any excursion it is advised to:
- consult the weather and avalanche bulletins from ARPA Piemonte, http://www.arpa.piemonte.it/bollettini
- get information from local Tourist Offices, Ski Schools or Mountain Guides.
In case of high avalanche danger, it is not recommended to undertake any excursion.
The indicated trails are only trampled by pedestrians: no mechanical, daily or periodic grooming service is provided.
Snow hiking activities require the use of electronic signaling and search systems as established by Legislative Decree no. 40/2021 art. 26
Reaching Pragelato and the Tourist Office is easy along the S.P. 23 of Sestriere: Turin - Pinerolo - Perosa Argentina - Val Chisone.
Parking in Piazza Lantelme, right near the Tourist Office, is free and always allowed, except on Sunday mornings or for special events.
Do not litter in the environment but carry your trash away with you, also collecting any left by others.
The indicated travel times are approximate and may vary depending on weather conditions and individual abilities.
Bring a backpack with water and food, there are no refreshment points or fountains along the route.
