This stage runs through the Val Chisone with a beautiful downhill route, so good fitness and endurance are required, as there are some climbs, some challenging descents, and the mileage is significant.
The route starts from the famous tourist resort of Sestriere and immediately immerses you in the tranquility of the woods of upper Val Chisone, crossing stunning landscapes. On the descent, you come across other interesting places such as Pragelato, Fenestrelle, Roure, Perosa Argentina, where it is possible to take some refreshing breaks.
With an initial high-altitude section, the route crosses cool conifer forests before reaching broadleaf trees in a milder temperature.
After passing Pinerolo, on the plain, cultivated lands and very warm temperatures in summer are encountered. To find some relief, the route crosses the woods on the right-hand bank of the Chisone, using some pleasant paths.
Appropriate clothing and equipment are recommended.
For those coming from Turin, follow the A55 to Pinerolo, then take the SR23 towards Sestriere.
