Route of Wonders Pfäfers

Porta Romana (Place of Wonder): The old trade route, lined with meter-high dry stone walls and passing through the former Roman barrier Porta Romana, which stood here on the flank, gives this place its name. Energetically, you encounter uplifting energies along the way.

Wartenstein Ruin (Places of Wonder): In 1206, the Wartenstein castle was built on the site of the old Porta Romana to protect the path and monastery. Here, no less than the first bathing doctor of Ragaz, Theophrastus Paracelsus, wrote his scientific treatise on the nearby healing spring. It is a place of wonder, but the energies are not particularly spectacular.

St. George Chapel: The pretty chapel dates from 1430. Alterations and renovations have changed its appearance multiple times. The hill probably was a cult site due to prevailing energies. Strong spots are found before the altar and on the hilltop beside the tree. You can get the key for St. George Chapel from the sexton (Tel: +41 (0)81 330 76 33).

Pfäfers Monastery Church: In the former monastery church, you will find wonderful energies, although the actual power place is not accessible. It is obvious why a church was built here, but why a whole monastery? The geographical uniqueness of this place likely was decisive. The abbey served as a hospice for monks who traveled from Reichenau through St. Gallen, Pfäfers, and Disentis to Como and Bobbio.

Beech Tree: Through a gate in the high monastery wall, you enter the well-maintained small garden with the large beech tree. Lean against the beech trunk and absorb its strong energies.
