HIKING AT THE RAMASSE OPPIDUM

From the parking lot near the Tourist Office, follow Allées Roger Salengro. Cross boulevard Gambetta and continue straight ahead on rue Doyen René Gosse. When you reach the Saint-Paul church, go around the fountain and turn left onto Place du Marché, in the direction of Hôtel de Ville. Turn left into rue Frégère. Further on, cross Avenue du Lac into Rue Arago. Opposite the Cave Coopérative, cross the D908 (route de Bédarieux), and continue straight ahead on rue Saint-Exupéry. Walk approximately 100 m to a crossroads.

Turn left up the old "chemin de Toulouse". The shady, stony path gradually rises. Reach the start of the alternative route. > Short variant (1 h 20, 4 km): go left. At the track, head straight ahead. Walk 150 m under the pines and rejoin the main circuit, below Mount Elisyca.

Continue uphill, crossing a track and entering the undergrowth on a wall-lined path. Reach the plateau (Mont Caylus, high point of the circuit at 289 m). The path widens and joins a wide track (with views of Pic de Vissou, Mont de Liausson and the Caroux plateau in the distance). Turn left and follow the track for 400 m to the junction with the De la tourelle aux meules trail, leading to Nébian.

Turn left, walk 550 m to the junction with the De la tourelle aux meules circuit leading to Nébian.

Continue straight ahead (view of Larzac Méridional, Mont Saint-Baudille and Roc de la Vigne). Go downhill, round a hairpin bend to the left and, a few metres further on, leave the track.

Climb left to the Ramasse viewpoint (Mont Elisyque), descend and reach the archaeological site (explanatory panels). At the track (on the left, belvedere de la Ramasse, under the relay antenna: panoramic view of the town of Clermont-l'Hérault), continue to the right. Walk 500 m and, at the end of the straight, just before the bend, turn left off the track.

Go downhill on the path known as "chemin de la Ramasse". At the bottom, turn left along the old chemin de Caylus into the town of Clermont-l'Hérault. At the road, opposite the Espace des Dominicains, turn left. Cross and follow rue Henri Martin. Turn right into rue Victor Hugo, cross and turn left into boulevard Gambetta. Cross the bridge over the Ronel and turn right into avenue Ronzier Joly, towards the bus station. Turn left and return to the parking lot via Quai Hercule Cot.
