A varied journey through the impressive landscapes of the Altmark, Wendland, and Lüneburg Heath. Mostly on secluded paths, you will pass through dense forests and green meadows. Shady tree-lined avenues spread their leafy canopy protectively and lead you through picturesque villages. The ride to these natural beauties is also an exciting journey into the past. Two Hanseatic towns, Uelzen and Salzwedel, you will pass through on your journey. Lüchow, the third town on the route, was not a member of the Hanseatic League. However, it still benefited from trade via the little river Jeetze, an important transport route for Salzwedel’s sailors.
The “Hanse Wendland Cycle Route” takes you through the impressive landscapes of the Altmark, Wendland, and Lüneburg Heath. Mostly on secluded paths, you will ride through dense forests and green meadows. Shady tree-lined avenues spread their leafy canopy protectively and guide you through picturesque villages. Storks, wild geese, and other forest and meadow inhabitants can be observed from the bike.
