Weinradroute Muskateller

The “Muskateller” Wine Cycling Route begins in Zistersdorf. From here, you’ll cycle through Groß Inzersdorf to Velm-Götzendorf and then on to Spannberg. Be sure to plan a “detour” to the Kellerberg and the wine cellar lane am Quent. Via Erdpreß, you’ll then continue on to Niedersulz, where you can explore a special highlight. In the Museumsdorf, Lower Austria’s largest open-air museum, you can explore historic buildings that have been relocated to a site spanning over 20 hectares and admire numerous gardens where rare plants and heirloom fruit varieties thrive. Afterward, drive via Obersulz and Blumenthal to Gaiselberg. A particularly beautiful attraction awaits you here: the medieval “Hausberg” (Gugelhupfberg), one of the best-preserved sites of its kind in the Weinviertel, with its ramparts and wine cellar lane (featuring numerous well-preserved cellars), invites you to enjoy a leisurely get-together. Via Windisch-Baumgarten, you’ll continue cycling through the picturesque landscape until you finally reach the Wirt’n am Steinberg. Here you can take a culinary break.

From the Hotel-Restaurant Am Steinberg, you can shorten the tour slightly and cycle directly back to Zistersdorf. However, it’s recommended to continue the bike tour along the signposted path to Neusiedl an der Zaya. From there, the route continues to Paltendorf. Here, you should pay a visit to the imposing fortified tower, a stone testament to the Middle Ages. From here, you’ll cycle via Gösting back to the starting point in Zistersdorf.

Zistersdorf can be reached by car via the B7 federal highway.
Take the exit toward Maustrenk, and you’ll arrive directly in Zistersdorf.

Getting there via Dürnkrut:

Coming from Vienna, there is a train connection to Dürnkrut. From there, you can follow Bike Route 7 for about 6 km to Velm Götzendorf and join the Muskateller Bike Route there.

The tour starts at the intersection of Kirchenplatz and Pröbstlgasse. This area is located within the short-term parking zone. Parking is available outside the city center.
