At kilometer 12 you find the Orbaizeta arms factory, at the gates of the Irati Forest. It’s a good moment to take a break and look at the ruins of what used to be one of the most important military industrial centers in the north of the country.
You continue the route ascending on a concrete track to access the Irati Forest, one of the largest and best-preserved beech and fir forests in Europe.
After a few kilometers of pure enjoyment around the Irabia reservoir, you arrive at the Casas de Irati, one of the most popular access points to the Irati Forest. The only thing left is to face the Alto de Tapla on asphalt and descend to the final point of the route in Ochagavía.
Basic equipment:
