The route begins next to the water-flooded rice fields south of Arguedas and continues cycling further north through the vastness of the Bardenas Reales desert. A spectacular contrast, a preview of what awaits us on a larger scale on this route.
As soon as you start, you cross the Bardenas Reales, where there is no possibility of getting water until you reach Carcastillo, at kilometer 40. Something very important to keep in mind, especially if the day is hot. The passage through the Bardenas is always spectacular: from the iconic rock sculpture of Castildetierra to the picturesque geological formation of the Blanquizales. You pass through many ravine areas until you reach El Paso, where there is a sculpture that pays tribute to the shepherds. There you leave behind this unique territory.
In Carcastillo, the second part of the route begins, moving from the desert to the banks of the Aragón river. From here you gradually enter the Navarrese pre-Pyrenees, leaving the picturesque lookout town of Gallipienzo on your left, with its Roman bridge witnessing your passage.
The final part of the route is an area of fertile orchards irrigated by the Aragón river. An easy stretch that, after crossing Cáseda, leads you to Sangüesa.
