Velovista2026 Stage 1_Lake Wörthersee car-free

The kickoff for Velovista 2026 is also one of the great highlights of the event and is dedicated to the car-free day at Lake Wörthersee. All roads around Lake Wörthersee are closed to car traffic; the lake belongs to cyclists and skaters on this day. The starting point of the first stage is Pörtschach at Lake Wörthersee. The Velovistas ride together along the closed route for one lap around Lake Wörthersee. The route is mostly flat, with three small hills (20-40 meters elevation) on the south side of the lake providing variety. Since the road is closed all day, participants may choose to do one (or possibly two) additional laps around Carinthia’s largest lake.

Both the north and south sides of the lake offer numerous bars, cafés, or restaurants for a short or longer stop.
