Canoe river Lahn stage 16 Weinbach-Fürfurt to Villmar-Aumenau

The entry and exit point Weinbach-Fürfurt is located on the left side of the Lahn, very close to the Fürfurt train station. From here, you first paddle into the lock canal just a few meters opposite. The Fürfurt lock is a self-service lock. Then you paddle further downstream the Lahn and the current increases significantly. Passing the Lahn floodplains, you reach the entry and exit point Villmar-Aumenau on the right side of the river.

Paddling is fun in any weather. Protect yourself in cool and damp weather with a water- and windproof jacket with hood.

In sunshine, the sun’s intensity is often underestimated because it feels pleasantly cool on the water. Protect yourself with a head covering against strong sunlight. Shoes do not have to look nice but should fit securely. The best are lace-up, sports, or special paddling shoes.

For stowing spare clothes and valuables, waterproof barrels or dry bags are recommended. If you book your route through a canoe tour operator, they will provide these for you. Only store your electronic devices in waterproof containers!

The Lahn must not be navigated when reaching the HWS (Highest Navigable Water Level)! The HWS is a precursor to flooding. You can find the current Lahn water levels here. A brief explanation of the level displays has been compiled here.

These are companies that stand for the preservation of nature and waterways and offer their guests safe and professional quality. The companies work with trained staff, have environmentally friendly operations, and constantly optimize safety and practical guides for their guests. These companies will definitely provide you with life jackets free of charge, because safety must cost nothing!

Always wear life jackets when you are on the water, and especially make sure that no child sits in the canoe without a life jacket.

If you are travelling with a canoe tour operator, make sure to get detailed instructions on canoeing. Have a river description given to you, which you can take with you on your river trip. The river description should provide information on all entry and exit points, rest and overnight places, and special natural areas marked on a map. You should also be instructed on the specific nature of the respective river. If you are on your own, get maps that contain this necessary information. From Limburg direction via the B49 to Limburg. Then via Schupbach and Wirbelau to Gräveneck. From Gräveneck via L3542 to Fürfurt.

From Wetzlar direction via B49 to the Leun exit. Then the L3451 via Braunfels to Edelsberg. From there via Freienfels and Weinbach to Fürfurt.

The entry and exit point Weinbach-Fürfurt is located directly at the Fürfurt train station.
