Hainburg an der Donau, Austria’s most eastern town is situated between the Danube, the Braunsberg (Brown Mountain) and the Hundsheimer Berge (Hundsheimer Mountains).

The town offers one of Europe’s oldest and best preserved fortification, dated from the 13th century.
2,5 km City Wall and altogether 15 towers around the centre of the town are in large parts preserved. 3 very impressive town gates complete the fortification - the massive Wienertor, the easterly Ungartor und the smaller, picturesque Fischertor.

The town also features many more places of interest from later periods. A short walking tour to the top of the Braunsberg or the Schlossberg will provide you with a beautiful view of Hainburg, the Danube and the National Park Donau-Auen and as far as Bratislava.

Guided tours "Come to the Middle Ages" with a noble dame or lansquenet show you the nicest and most interesting places of the Town. Each Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday at 14.00 o&039;clock in German. Every 1st. Saturday of the month also in Slovak. Tours in English on request possible.
