The starting point this time is at the Antonikapelle in Großhöflein. The Mittelburgenland-Rosalia region offers a diversity that is unparalleled. You pass through vineyards, orchards, colorful strawberry fields and shady forest areas. Landscape art, small chapels and impressive buildings, such as Forchtenstein Castle, where the hub of the hiking trails is located, invite you to rest. Accompanied by magnificent viewpoints, you hike along the Leithagebirge and through the Rosalia mountains up to the Rosalien Chapel on the summit of the Heuberg. There, the Rosalien Chapel surprises with its baroque furnishings as well as the most beautiful panoramic view in Burgenland with a magnificent view over all of Northern Burgenland on one side and on the other into the Bucklige Welt, to Schneeberg and the Steinfeld. Here you already cross the border to Lower Austria.
It then continues behind the chapel down the Heuberg past the lumberjack houses, Sinabelkreuz, Grasriegel, down the Mehlberleiten over the Steinfeld towards Puchberg. Over the Maumauwiese you reach the Gscheidl in the direction of Frein to Mariazell.
You start at the Antonikapelle in Großhöflein and follow the marking red white red towards Ödenburger Straße. After crossing (underpass Southeast motorway A3) you continue along the Föhlig and the Föhlig Forest towards Pürstling Forest, through the Keltenberg settlement until crossing Mattersburgerstraße. Cross this and continue through the Schölling Forest towards Wiesen. Along the Krautäcker ridge towards Forchtenstein (Schreiner Mill) - Forchtenstein Castle - Rosalien Chapel.
Part of the way is on natural paths and part on asphalt.
Good footwear, sporty clothing, rain and sun protection as well as a bottle of drinking water should always be with you.
