Old border
Via a romantic forest path, we reach a crossroads where the so-called Gallows Cross stands. Beneath this cross lies Lorenz Jury, who was executed at this place of execution in 1862. At this location, the execution site of the Neuhaus lordship, the border between Austria-Hungary also symbolized the boundary between life and death. Stories and legends speak of ghosts, fiery beings, border disputes, robbers, and murderers. Part of these can be heard a few meters further at the listening pillar behind the Gallows Cross. To the left, the path continues to the Maria Theresa Stone and then to the Tschardake. A Tschardake is a border guard's hut, where watch was kept to defend the border. Afterwards, continue to the Romischek intersection - to the right leads to GH Koller in Styria, where you can have a refreshment. To the left leads towards Neuhaus. At the next intersection, keep left again. Always follow the road to the foot of Castle Hill. Staying to the left, go uphill until the straight path, where again on the left a forest path leads to the castle ruins. On the ruins, there is a viewing platform from where you have a wonderful panoramic view from Tabor Castle to Kapfenstein Castle and to Gleichenberg. The descent from the ruins can be taken on a different route, which again passes the cemetery and ends at the parking lot of the Catholic church. At the church, a path leads down to the main square.
