Obernburger Star - Odenwald Route

The start of the route is the Obernburger Star Info Point at the Anna Chapel in Obernburg. Over the festival ground/Ziegelhüttenweg towards Miltenberg, over the Mömling bridge and then directly turn right following the signs of the 3-Country Cycle Path towards “Neustadt/Hessen”. From here, always cycle towards Höchst im Odenwald. We ride through Eisenbach, Mömlingen, and shortly before Breuberg-Hainstadt cross the Bavarian-Hessian border. In Breuberg, a detour up to the well-preserved Breuberg Castle with its castle tavern and museum is worthwhile. Past Breuberg, shortly before the entrance to Rai-Breitenbach, turn right. On the further way, you will encounter artistic wood and stonework. Cycling through the Breuberg floodplain, the cycle path signage begins towards Bad König. After a short climb, we pass through the small village Dusenbach. At a farmer’s milk station, you can refresh yourself.

We reach the town Höchst i. Odw. The former Augustinian nunnery offers the opportunity to relax in the monastery garden. Continuing through the idyllic Mümling-Grumbach following the signs towards Michelstadt/Erbach, past fields and meadows, you reach Etzen-Gesäß and the Bruchmühle beer garden. The next stage goal is Bad König with its Odenwald thermal bath and the sculpture art spa park. Continue along the banks of the Mümling until shortly before Michelstadt in Steinbach you encounter the Einhard Basilica and the fairy-tale Fürstenau Castle. Then continue into the historic old town with its famous half-timbered town hall, the synagogue, and the mysterious cellar courtyard. Numerous cafés and restaurants invite you to enjoy.

The last station is the neighboring residence town Erbach with its baroque Count’s Palace with pleasure garden and orangery and the German Ivory Museum.

For the return trip to Obernburg, cycle the same route or take the train from Erbach station to Höchst im Odenwald.

Coming from Frankfurt: Take the A3 at Aschaffenburg onto the B469 (exit "Stockstadt") towards Miltenberg. The exit Obernburg is signposted.

Coming from Würzburg: Take the A3 at the "Rohrbrunn" exit. Obernburg is signposted.

By train towards Aschaffenburg or towards Miltenberg to the Obernburg-Elsenfeld stop. Then cross the pedestrian bridge to Obernburg and after 200 meters straight ahead you will find the town hall square.
