Rüdenau mountain hike R1

The hike begins at the sports field in Rüdenau. Follow the marking parallel to the idyllic Winnegraben uphill. At a pond, we can take a first break and listen to the toads and birds. Because now it goes uphill.

Once at the top, you will find the Lauseiche, where pilgrims on the pilgrimage to Engelberg monastery once sang the "te deum laudamus." You will also find the "Brunnthal hike" there. At the Lauseiche there is also a shelter inviting you to rest. In the hut, a treasure chest is placed, which every hiker may take a look into.

Now continue following the marking on a narrow path that runs downhill through a splendid mixed forest until you reach another rest area. From the 2nd Advent until Candlemas, a self-built forest nativity scene can be admired in the hut at this rest area. The idea comes from Willi Lebküchner, who has expanded the crib every year. A self-made stable, new figures, and Advent additions lead to this impressive structure, which is worth a visit in wintertime.

After another section, you reach the first houses of Rüdenau. From there, the path leads over the Rüdenau weekend area into the Ohrnbach valley. The hiking route takes you south around Rüdenau. Another rest area with a wonderful view of the quaint village invites you to linger. Then continue past the whisky distillery, right through Rüdenau, and finally on a steep path along the front of the houses back into the forest. On the way back to the starting point, you pass a water reservoir. At the end, we can enjoy our last provisions at the barbecue area with hut.
