The stage begins at the impressive ruins of Hiltenburg Castle, which was once owned by the Helfenstein noble family. From here, the trail descends through the Hiltental Valley and continues on to the hamlet of Gosbach. After a steep climb up the Leimberg, your efforts are rewarded with a panoramic view of the upper Filstal from the romantic Kreuzkapelle. Through an idyllic forested valley, you reach the village of Mühlhausen im Täle, centrally located in the beautiful Goißatäle. Goats (Goißa) gave the valley its nickname. This typically Swabian name originated in a time when each household’s own goat provided milk, cheese, and hides. Many families therefore had their own “Goiß.” Passing by the Hotel Höhenblick, the Albtraufgänger trail winds its way through the forest and over the Buchsteige, with fascinating juniper heaths and breathtaking views of the Filstal Bridge currently under construction, continuing on to Wiesensteig. The final stretch to the end of the stage—the Wiesensteig Residential Palace—runs over the Schlagfels and the Sommerberg, then down via the Wiesensteiger Kreuzweg.

The climbs require a head for heights, fairly good physical condition, and sure footing, especially in wet conditions.
Bad Ditzenbach can be reached by car via the A8 Stuttgart–Ulm highway, taking the Mühlhausen exit toward Geislingen an der Steige (B 466), or via the B10, taking the exit in Geislingen an der Steige toward Bad Ditzenbach.
