In the monastery quarter, the themed path "Historical Route" starts, leading to interesting points of the former monastery complex such as the Paradise, the old sacristy, or the abbey lodge, and conveys fascinating information about the monastery and its history via themed panels.
The Historical Route was initiated over 10 years ago by the Working Group on Monastic History Bad Herrenalb and has enjoyed great popularity ever since. It was recently revised as part of the redesign of the monastery area including the monastery model, lapidarium, and monastery garden. The panels at the various locations, which provide interesting background knowledge, now shine in a new design with partially revised texts. A new location, the “cloister complex,” has been added.
The starting point is the large themed panel behind the archway in the monastery quarter. Then follow the panels of the Historical Route according to the numbering through the monastery grounds along the spa promenade to Bad Herrenalb station and thus learn something about the former Cistercian monastery Bad Herrenalb.
