The starting point for this beautiful hike is the mountain station of the Hannig cable car. From there, the ibex path leads over the forest road towards Mällig (2,700 m above sea level). From Mällig, you enjoy a magnificent view of the Saastal and most of its four-thousanders. It is followed by a pleasant, mostly flat hike to the point at 2,604 m above sea level, past Gebidum. From here, it mostly goes steeply downhill until the path merges with the Höhenweg Saas-Fee - Grächen.
The rest of the path leads gently downward, past the legendary Senggbodu and the Bärufalla back to Saas-Fee. The name of the path is no coincidence. Ibexes like to stay in this area and can be observed up close with some luck. Noteworthy is the alternation between forest and rocky terrain.
