The Britannia via ferrata promises thrills and unique views of the Saas mountain world. The difficulty level of the via ferrata ranges between K-3 (moderately difficult) and K-4 (difficult); some climbing experience is advantageous.
The path to the start leads from the Britannia Hut towards the glacier path/Mattmark. The first challenge starts right at the beginning, where you climb on rock and over individual aids to an easier traverse on the rock. With a view of the Britannia Hut, the route rises again and remains exciting. After about two-thirds of the via ferrata, the rock forms a small "plateau" inviting a break. Then follows the most spectacular section on the ridge of the Hinner Allalin. Here, the spectacular view opens in all directions.
The blue-white marked descent leads over the Hohlaub Glacier back to the Britannia Hut. At some points, you may encounter snowfields at any time.
From the Morenia station via Egginerjoch and Chessjen area to the Britannia Hut
From the Britannia Hut to the start, about 250m below the hut at 2,970 m a.s.l.. Via the via ferrata up to the ridge of the Hinner Allalin and back to the Britannia Hut.
