The Grand Tour of the Belluno Dolomites is a large loop itinerary starting and ending in Belluno, designed to discover the Belluno Dolomites by bike. The route crosses diverse territories, linking the...
The common thread is the relationship between water, rock, forest and mountain roads. From the city of Belluno we travel up the Piave River to Ponte nelle Alpi, Longarone and Cadore, encountering places linked to the history of the river, timber and inhabited mountains. Between Perarolo di Cadore, Pieve di Cadore, and Centro Cadore, the landscape opens up to some of the most recognizable profiles of the Belluno Dolomites, with glimpses of valleys, lakes, villages, and rock faces.
The route then continues to the Auronzo area , Cortina d'Ampezzo and higher Cadore, before returning through Val di Zoldo, Passo Duran, Agordino and Val del Mis. The return to Belluno traverses more secluded environments, including ravines, forests, back roads and views of the Valbelluna.
Once past Longarone, you gradually enter the Cadore Dolomite environment, with the road beginning to climb between tunnels, rock walls and spectacular views. The last section accompanies towards the Cadore basin until reaching Pieve di Cadore.
The route mainly follows the SS51 and the use of GPS or digital track is recommended to manage traffic, tunnels and route changes in mountainous areas.
