A short tour with an average gradient of 8.6 % and a maximum of 16%. From the lake promenade in Ascona, the tour starts steeply up to the local mountain Monte Verità. Up to the hamlet of Gruppaldo, from where the climb is permanent, the ascent is still very gentle. The road winds its way up the slopes above Lake Maggiore and up to Porera you mostly benefit from the shade, which is particularly pleasant in the summer months. On the 8.75 km from Gruppaldo to Casone, legwork is required to master the 902 metres in altitude. From Casone you have a fantastic panorama over Lake Maggiore to Italy. There are two grotti along the route where you can stop for refreshments (check the opening hours).
